The mens league teams play in the Surrey Open Hockey League, the ladies play in The Middlesex Womens League whilst we also have 2 mens teams playing in a friendly conference of which the majority of games are played on grass all at either 2.15 or 2.45 and we also have a mixed team which plays occasionally.
Hopefully we have something for everyone – teams playing league hockey or friendlies. If you are interested in our club we’d be delighted to hear from you. League players range in age from 16 to 40+ and our social sides cover a good spread of ages from 30 to 70! We’re happy to hear from anone interested in playing – even if you haven’t played before.
The club is in a very picturesque situation alongside Bushy Park in Teddington, close to Richmond, Twickenham, Hounslow and Kingston. Nearby Teddington station makes it easily accessible for those without cars.
The hockey club is part of the wider NPL Sports Club which includes other sports such as tennis, cricket and football – see links to these at the top of the page. NPL stands for National Physical Laboratories (it is the UKs National Measurement Institute, NPL is immortalised as the place that tested the bouncing bomb. This is thanks to the war movie The Dam Busters (1955) partly filmed at NPL) in the past the NPL clubs were all filled by employees of the laobratories, today the club is completely open to the public whilst also offering sport options for the NPL employees.
Membership to NPL Hockey gives you year round access to the club grounds and club house. The bar serves a wide range of beers all of which are cheaper than you’ll find in pubs. Bar meals are available to. and the club house itself is available for hire for social functions. There is a full size snooker table and a table tennis hall for members to use.
November sees one of the clubs annual key events when we have a huge fireworks display and beer festival
